Alaska! Kenai Fjords Exit Glacier 6

We hiked Exit Glacier in the Kenai Fjords on our 22nd anniversary.  We had a painful start when another group of hikers decided it would be a good idea to test out their bear spray on the trail in front of us.  People, if you hold something in your hand that can protect you from a bear, YOU MUST NOT TRY IT OUT...you are smaller and weaker than a bear--it doesn't end well!

After our hike, Caleb, Josiah, and Naomi decided to stay behind and hike part of the Harding Icefield trail.

Caleb unexpectedly found this on his backpack strap
For our anniversary, we were sprayed with bear spray, went on a beautiful hike to a glacier...and did laundry.  It cost $40 for 4 loads!  I also wanted to go on a date with Peter and eat seafood, but due to COVID the restaurants were closed.  However, at 9:30 pm a fisherman offered us the flounder he caught after we exclaimed in delight at his catch.  Did I mention it doesn't get dark and life goes on at all hours?  When Chrisann hacked off its head, Eleanora exclaimed, “You hurting it!”  When we explained we were going to eat it, she said unconvinced, “It not yummy.”  It wasn’t a fancy restaurant and it was close to 11 pm, but I got seafood on our anniversary!

Man who gave us the flounder

In celebration of our 22nd anniversary, Peter and I declared we were going to kiss our way through Alaska.  Caleb was usually our cameraman and playfully tolerant.  He would give a little chuckle whenever we would summon him, "Oh, Caleb!  Time for a kissing picture."  Sitting in the RV, Caleb surprised me and leaned in for his own kissing picture.  I love my children.
